Seizing any opportunity he can, Satan tries to steal identity from Christ - followers (inherently, a Christian’s identity is in Christ). He then proceeds in making that person a slave to the depraved reality of which he is King; a reality that boasts great claims, yet in essence is nothing more than empty. Satan’s reality is like a child who gives all his allowance and savings and piggy bank money to a friend so that the friend will buy him a wonderful gift for the Holidays. Then, he sees a massive box under the tree just before Christmas. He has all kinds of dreams and hopes for what the huge gift would be. Maybe a bike. Maybe a fort. Maybe something he hasn’t even heard of. But, nevertheless, he imagines what glorious treasures lay inside. And then the Day comes and the child opens the box only to find it completely empty except for a small piece of paper. The paper reads: SUCKER! And I guess it wouldn’t be so bad, except that he spent everything he had on the big, empty box.
